Over the years I've been fortunate to work with some incredibly talented athletes, however this summer presented the first opportunity to work with my girlfriend, Jenny Lucas, as the model. An accomplished ultra runner, this was Jenny's first modeling gig for a commercial photo shoot.
I'd just returned from a four-day backpacking trip and Jenny was excited to tell me that she would be modeling a new pair of running tights for Ridge Merino, a clothing company based here in Mammoth Lakes, California. She had tested the tights during her training this past winter and spring and after providing some feedback the final version was now ready for release. I wondered who they had lined up for a photographer. A couple hours later I found out when I received a text message from the owner, “Would you want to do a photo shoot this week? You'll like the model 😉” Count me in! I'm always taking photos of Jenny on all our hiking, running, and skiing trips but this time it was for a commercial job. Turns out that this job couldn’t have gone any smoother and our familiarity with each other made it easy to know exactly what the other needed. We came away with one of my favorite sets of photos of my career.
Our friend Samantha Deleo shot this great video piece simultaneously. It didn't feel like work but more like a bunch of friends hanging out and helping each other create, which I guess is exactly what ended up happening.
